Drakes Huddersfield Cricket League

The Drakes Huddersfield Cricket League comprises of 30 clubs. With 4 of the inaugural clubs - Golcar, Holmfirth, Lascelles Hall and Slaithwaite are still with us today.
The League, the most westerly of the many Yorkshire leagues, is to this day, based in and around the Huddersfield District, with many of the clubs situated in the picturesque Pennine area's of the Colne and Holme valley's
In the west we reach right up into the Pennines, over the hill, though still in Yorkshire, down into Delph , and then to their near neighbours Micklehurst.
To the east we have two clubs, Cawthorne and Hoylandswaine, just across the boundary in South Yorkshire,with Barkisland being the most northerly club, finding ourselves in Calderdale,and finally to the south we have Scholes, high above the Holme Valley overlooking Summer Wine country.
It was stated by cricket statisticians that by 1991,the Huddersfield area had produced more first class cricketers than any other town or city in England.
